Roots and Recipes Essay! (final draft)

     When thinking about a special food about my family, the first thing that pops into my head is the way my mom cooks her spaghetti. I don't know weather it's because I think that the sauce it's self makes my mouth water or if it's because the first bite of the somewhat luscious piece of goodness just leaves you wanting more. But, I really think it's just the smile I see on my mom's face when i see her cooking some of her favorite dish. "cooking is my passion" my mom would say "I like seeing people enjoy my food". We both agree that what makes her version so unique is the fact that she adds perfectly sliced hot dogs and fresh cut tomato's.

      I found out that my mom has been cooking spaghetti for a while now. She says that before we came to the state of Hawai'i or before we were even born that she would cook more frequently. She was even known as the cook in the family. That's kind of hard to believe considering I see her in the kitchen most of the time even with her busy schedule. I also found out that I'm not the only one that enjoys her spaghetti. "I remember all of your cousins back home in the Philippines during party's and other special occasions running towards the food table and before the rest of us adults could even have a chance of taking a glance at the food, it was gone. even the spaghetti".

 

     Other than the fact that this version of my moms appetizing spaghetti has hotdogs and fresh tomatos in it is not the only reason why it is so special to me. Another reason why it is so special to me is because she dosen't cook it that often. Before when i was younger I would keep track of any special events just so that my mom would be able to cook and one of the dish that I was looking forward to eating was the spaghetti. I just wish that i was able to eat this dish more often.

1.) The food that I will be describing is my mom's spaghetti .
2.) The special memories that I had with this food is all of the special occasion .  When we celebrated our special occasions, for example holidays and birthdays, it was never complete without making spaghetti . 
3.) The aroma of the tangy spaghetti sauce it's self already makes my mouth water .  After the first bite of the somewhat luscious spaghetti leaves me wanting more .
4.) The person that I will be interviewing is my mom because she makes the best spaghetti .
