Macbeth Essay Assignment

William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” shows that power can corrupt even the most loyal and humble people. In the book the protagonist Macbeth later becomes the books main antagonist after hearing about the prophecy form 3 witches saying that he will soon become the new thane of Cowdor then will become the new king. Going through many obstacles in his way, Macbeth soon becomes a different person then he was in in the beginning.
As power hungry and, at some point, crazy Macbeth is, he was once a brave and loyal fighter. “Duncan: so thy words become thee, as thy wound; they smack of honor both” (Act one, scene 2, line 44-45). Prior to his murder, king Duncan has seen Macbeth as a man with honor after what he did in the battle in the beginning. King Duncan was also so proud that he tells the injured sergeant to be proud of him.
“He bade me, from him, call thee thane of Cowdor” (Act one, scene 3, line 105). After hearing that Macbeth has saved the people of Scotland, king Duncan then pronounced him has the thane of Cowdor because of his loyalty towards the king. But because of this we find a new side of Macbeth, a side that that shows how power can corrupt even the most humble man.
Power can easily Change a man as great as Macbeth for the worst. “Banquo, thy soul’s flight, if it find heaven, must find it out tonight.”(Act 3, scene 1, line 141-142). After claiming the throne of King Duncan, Macbeth uses his power to make sure it remains with him. By doing so he kills Banquo in an attempt to make sure that his children will soon become kings. “She should have died here after; there would have been a time for such word.” (Act 5, scene 5, line 17-18). After hearing about his wife’s death, Macbeths belt very indifferent about it compared to the battle that was about to happen. At the beginning of the book, Macbeth would have done anything for Lady Macbeth, but when she died he treated it as if there were worst problems. Because power could easily change people, it could also be someone’s great weakness.
For some people power could be a strength, but for people like Macbeth who gets corrupted by power, it could be their most greatest weakness. “some say he’s mad; others, that lesser him, do call it valiant fury: but, for certain, he cannot buckle his tempered cause within the belt of rule” (Act five, scene 2, lines 13-16). After his people and his court found out about all the killings that Macbeth did, they betrayed him and joined Malcolm’s side. Because he misused his power, he became weaker in power. “re-enters Macduff, with Macbeths head” (Act 5, scene 7, line 83). Because everyone went against him, he didn’t really stand a chance on winning the war against Malcolm. This shows how power, if misused, can be ones weakness.

In the book Macbeth would have done anything to get power and have power remain with him. Having become a different person, readers will realize how power can lead someone to corruption. In “Macbeth” William Shakespeare emphasizes how even the most loyal and humble people can get corrupted by power if it is misused.

Adolf Hitler essay

Adolf Hitler was a man with great political power in Germany but used this power in inhumane ways. During his reign, one of the laws that he established was to ban Jews and non-Jews form marrying each other. This law made sure that Jews were treated unequal. These also show what kind he had. Hitler who had the most influential voice was the execution of the Holocaust. His decisions have lead to the death of millions. Hitler continued to kill anyone who was in his way and even innocent people who were just caught up in the war. Adolf Hitler might have been an inhumane guy, but he also had a very sad childhood.

Although Hitler may have done inhumane things while he reigned in Germany, he still had a messed up childhood. When he was still 3 years old, he moved from Austria to Germany.  While there, his younger brother died in 1900.  He may have been depressed and having to go through this at such a young age to someone. This also might be a reason for his hatred towards the Jews. Two years after his fathers death, his mother allowed him to drop out of school when they moved to Vienna and worked as a casual painter, but he tried to apply to the academy of fine arts but got denied twice. Being denied to an art school may have caused him to look for other interest. He might also have looked for something to make him feel better.

Allusion Poem (rough draft)

Take a good look at me
Exactly what do you see?
A naïve fish trying to find their place in the big ocean
Maybe I’m just holding back a friend
But at the end,
I end up being helpful
Being the only one with a shoulder to cry on
“Keep swimming, just keep swimming”
I continually tell you,
But you don’t listen
You look at me like an ignorant fool
But I but I end up being smarter then you.
Its seems as if you think I’m socially unacceptable
Boy did I prove you wrong
Being the forgetful one,
I should be the one taken care of
But the role has been switched
Just imagine without me
Where do you think you would be?
You play with other fish?
Well, I play with sharks
You should have know better then trying to let me go
Because for me
I’m starting a new chapter

Dear YouTube,

Your video sharing website has been my pop culture for quite some time now. Having that excitement of some of my favorite youtubers upload a video has been a weekly (almost daily) routine for me. It pleases me to say that that your website is one of my favorite websites to visit.

However, just recently, while I was on another video spree on my subscription list, I noticed that you have updated the comment section as well as the likes/dislikes bar. Although some of the features of the comment section are useful, such as the part where you can now see every reply to a certain comment, the thing that bugs me is the fact that when you click the link to a comment that is a reply to another comment it will just open another link to the same video. Another part of your update that that needs to be pointed out is the likes/dislikes bar. Before the update the colors of the bar were green and red (green for likes and red for dislikes). Now that it is blue and white (blue for likes and white for dislikes) its not only less visually appealing, but also much harder to determine how many dislikes the video gets as the white part of the bar tends to blend in with the background

I understand that you are only doing these updates to further improve your website, but I’m not the only one having the same problem. After reading through the comments of some of the videos I was watching that day, some people mentioned how “the updates were anything but useful” and “just makes things harder”. Some youtubers also have the same complaint and try to make petitions on having the old version back. I suggest that fixing the links on the comment section and changing the colors of the likes/dislikes bar would be a good solution

I hope you get a the chance to read this letter and hopefully take my suggestion into consideration since I love youtube with passion and its upsetting that these updates make it difficult for me to enjoy it more.

Risky Business Essay (rough draft)

Everyday teens are struggling of trying to perfect their physical features. Whether it’s the way they look or they way their body is shaped, all they want is to be accepted by society. Some teens would be so desperate as to go on irrelevant diet, which would cause most of them to obtain an eating disorder. Teen eating disorders is a major dilemma in todays society that is usually caused by a disapproval of someone’s self image, and that is why not only teens but parents should watch on the amount of food their teens eat weather it be too much or to little.
Although watching your diet could be a good thing, some teens take dieting to severely even though it is inappropriate for then to be doing it. That’s why teens need to start watching on the amount of food that they eat rather then limiting it to a certain extent. In an article about eating disorders, its says, “to not worry if your body isn’t perfect”. If teens were to think about this before dieting, then there it would decrease the amount of teen eating disorders. It would also be a more healthy way of accepting your own self-image. In the same article, its states that “severe dieting for teens could lead to eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia”.  Teens might want to reconsider dieting if its not necessary after knowing this. It might also change the minds of other people who think that major dieting or inappropriate isn’t a big issue, which brings me to my second reason why it is necessary.
Some people may argue that if you think that you are under weight, then there are no limitations to how much you eat or if you think that you are over weight, then a great restriction to how much you eat is a good thing and that and that being neglectful on making sure that you have a healthy diet is not a big deal. Studies state, “Dieting to extremes may cause anorexia nervosa”.  This shows that dieting isn’t always a good thing. Hopefully it would change the minds of people who think that not eating is a good way to loose weight. According to Carre Otis, a victim of an eating disorder who recovered, “I decided if I ate less I could somehow postpone not only my bodily changes but perhaps I could avoid greater unknown”. If she kept thinking this then she might not have had recovered from her eating disorder. Its also shows that not only teens but their parents should worry about their kids diet because if someone haven’t helped her, then she would still be on that strict diet causing her eating disorder and this also brings me to another topic.
Usually when teens get over an eating disorder, they usually don’t go through it alone but there are times when they are the cause of the eating disorder. That is why parents should help their teens with their eating disorder. An article from shepellfgi.com says, “Guardians or relatives critical of a young person’s weight or body shape can lead to low self-esteem”. Low self-esteem is one of the major causes of getting an eating disorder. If the parents where to be more sensitive about he young persons weight or body then they would have avoided the young person having low self-esteem. From the same article, it states, “there are genetic links to anorexia, bulimia, and bing eating“. If this is true then having a parent or anyone would help teens go through the trouble of having an eating disorder in there genetics. Parents are also responsible for their teen’s health.
That is why teen eating disorders is a major dilemma in todays society that is usually caused by a disapproval of someone’s self image, and that is why not only teens but parents should watch on the amount of food their teens eat weather it be too much or to little. Some teens would do anything to have a body that society would accept. And that is the reason why teens would do anything to perfect their physical features.
